Textile retailer AWG gets new chief financial officer

AWG has appointed Thorsten Schaefer to the management board from September 5th. In the future, he will be responsible for the areas of finance, controlling, HR, logistics and IT.

Schaefer comes from the Signa daughter Dress-for-less. He worked for the online retailer for two years as CFO. The 55-year-old takes over the position from Markus Lopata, who left the company after three years.

“We as the AWG family are very pleased to have Thorsten Schaefer for this position and the important area of ​​responsibility of the CFO,” said Michael Hoevelmann, Managing Director of AWG, in a statement on Tuesday. “In addition to his many years of experience in the divisions he manages, he also brings a great deal of expertise in digital business and will also significantly enrich us in this area.”

AWG Allgemeine Warenvertriebs-GmbH, based in Köngen, employs 2,300 people and operates around 250 branches throughout Germany. The company also owns franchise stores of the brands S. Oliver, Esprit and Tom Tailor.
