Texas gunman’s mother testifies: ‘Salvador was absolutely not violent’ | Abroad

A son who is everywhere described as a monster that she must soon have buried. And a mother fighting for her life after being shot in the head by her grandson. Adriana Reyes doesn’t know anymore either. And she was already having such a hard time. The woman is fighting a serious drug addiction. That is why the perpetrator left home and temporarily lived with his grandparents.

“Oh, there’s a lot of gossip here. But none of this is true. I had a good relationship with my son. It’s true that he was a little special. Very withdrawn. He also had no friends. But there will be more like that”, Adriana cries.

Puzzle

Why her son opened fire on students at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde will also remain a mystery to her. “He was definitely not a violent person. As a child, he let himself be walked all over. That’s why he was bullied,” she says. “I pray now for all those families who have lost a loved one. I also pray for all those innocent children. My maternal heart is bleeding.”

Adriana visited her mother Celia Gonzalez in hospital with her father on Wednesday. She is still fighting for her life after her grandson shot her in the head. “The doctors are not able to make any predictions about her recovery chances for the time being. But my sister and I will be ready to take care of her the day she could leave the hospital.”

She last had contact with Salvador last Monday. “It was his birthday. I bought him a card and a Snoopy plush.” Salvador gifted himself two semi-automatic weapons. He could buy it as an 18-year-old without any problems.
