Teuvo Teräväinen flashed his smarts right at the start of the Florida Panthers game. He swam in, seeming half-careless, and lifted from an almost non-existent angle to the top bar.

The attempt was cunning, sharp-edged, but there was no success, again. The goal column rumbles empty, even though there are already 13 matches behind.

Last season, Teräväinen scored 22 goals and 43 assists. Now the power column is decorated only with a pot of five assists.

Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour tried to apply powers by separation Sebastian Ahon and Teräväinen. They played alongside Aho Seth Jarvis and Andrei Svetshnikovalongside Teräväinen Jordan Staal and Martin Necas.

Teräväinen got about 14.5 minutes of playing time. The superiority time also accumulated almost two minutes, even though he has fallen out of the top-five, driven by Aho.

Knuckled

The first hit of the match was scored by the Panthers Nick Cousins. He broke free in the opening set to tap past his own rebound Antti Raannan.

Worked like a bull Alexander Barkov beat Raanta 2–0 in the final set with superiority. Barkov caught the puck in the middle zone and used his radar pair Carter Verhaeghellawhose knuckleball landed unflinchingly on the back post.

Barkov’s autumn catch is eleven (3+8) points.

It was evident in the 3–0 hit by the Panthers by Anton Lundell handprint. He released by Sam Bennett cleverly for painting work.

Lundell’s autumn catch is nine (1+8) points.

The Panthers edged the Hurricanes to 17 points. The Hurricanes have played one less game.

Sign post

Panthers Eric Staal played his 1300th NHL game. There are 63 players ahead of him on the match list.

Staal made his NHL debut in October 2003 in Florida, but at that time he was wearing a Hurricanes bunt. Along with the Panthers and Hurricanes, he has represented the New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabers and Montreal Canadiens.

Staal operates in the same chain Aleksi Heponiemi with, as also in the previous game against the Anaheim Ducks.

– He knows how to play the puck, naturally, Heponiemi said on the NHL’s website.

– It was great to play (with him). I enjoyed every moment.

For Heponiemi, the Canes match was the second top of the fall.

– He was really, really good in the training camp, coach Paul Maurice comment below the match.

– He is exceptionally smart. Durability is a question mark, but he can play in the NHL.

Heponiemi played his first NHL game in the 2020–21 season. He has recorded 17 matches and four (1+3) power points in a Panthers shirt.
