Test victory for Hertha against Belgian first division promoted

Hertha can really use this dream couple in the 2nd division!

Marco Richter and summer signing Fabian Reese shine as a dangerous duo in the 2-1 win against Belgium’s first division promoted Molenbeek. Exactly two weeks before the start of the season, the Bundesliga relegated team is showing promising approaches on offense – and isolated gaps in defence.

In the Steinberg Stadium in Leogang in Austria, coach Pal Dardai (47) sends his supposed A-Elf into the race. Also present: the offensive duo with captain Richter on the tenth position and winger Reese on the wings.

And the two start right away. After a quick switching game, Richter was able to cross unhindered in the 10th minute, Reese slammed the ball into the goal with a direct acceptance, which is worth seeing.

A magic hit that shows how Coach Dardai imagines the offensive game. After winning the ball, it goes forward at lightning speed over the wings. That works again in the 29th minute. This time, Reese and Richter switch roles: After a one-two, the outside attacker runs along the line, then puts it in the middle on Richter, who converts to 2:1.

And all of this in front of the eyes of Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart, who is in the training camp with FC in neighboring Maria Alm. Has Baumgart cast his eye on Richter? The strongest Herthaner is said to have contacts with Bundesliga teams again and again.

Meanwhile, the relegated side were leveled by Molenbeeks Niklo, who took advantage of a back pass from right-back Deyovaisio Zeefuik. In the second half there is a complete exchange, a goal is no longer possible.

Conclusion Dardai: “What we did when we conceded after the bad pass is not nice. We’ve conceded a goal in every game so far.”

Nevertheless, Dardai also sees positive approaches: “We had a lot of nice transition moments, the goals were scored. I’m happy with that.”
