Teso takes ferry out of service for a day and a half due to oil leak

The Teso ferry Doctor Wagemaker will not sail on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday due to a malfunction. The boat lost oil at sea. Until then, Teso sails with the Texelstroom.

Head of operational service Herman Schooljan of Teso speaks of a ‘minor oil discharge’ due to a malfunction of the rudder propeller. The boat was taken out of service on Wednesday afternoon for repairs.

Teso has decided to keep Doctor Wagemaker on shore for at least a day and a half for repair work on the propeller. During these activities, the other ferry, the Texelstroom, sails as a service boat.

It is not yet clear to what extent the oil spill has caused environmental damage.
