In just under eight months, thousands of Tesla employees will commute by train to the factory gate. With a company train.

The “Tesla shuttle” is to drive from Erkner station to Grünheide from January 2023, said Brandenburg’s Transport Minister Guido Beermann (56, CDU) on Wednesday in the Potsdam state parliament.

Beermann: “Tesla submitted the application in April, and the comment period runs until the end of May.”

So far, the e-car workers have been brought to their workplace by Erkner buses. The Tesla train is to run every shift change every day. Between the trains of the RE1, which runs three times an hour from December.

Tesla has already bought the old siding from the Regional Express route to the factory premises and is adding 500 meters to the factory gate. The works ID then serves as a travel ticket.

Already more than 4000 people work in the Grünheider Autowerk. By the end of the year, it should be twice as many. Every second Tesla worker comes from Berlin. The Tesla shuttle shortens your commute to work.
