Terzic declares no painting and gives Haller an update

Somewhat surprisingly, Donyell Malen was missing from Borussia Dortmund’s starting eleven for the Bundesliga game at VfL Wolfsburg. BVB coach Edin Terzic has now explained the waiver. The 41-year-old also gave an injury update on Sébastien Haller.

“It was actually planned that Donyell Malen would start again because he did extremely well last week,” said Terzic before the game on “Sky”.

On Saturday morning, however, it turned out that the Dutchman was not available. “Unfortunately, he injured his knee slightly during training on Friday and then said today that he wasn’t at 100 percent. We didn’t want to take any risks,” emphasized the Dortmund coach.

BVB coach Terzic gives Malen the all-clear

At the same time, Terzic already gave the all-clear: “It’s nothing dramatic. It’s something that will keep him busy for a day or two. That’s why we’re keeping our fingers crossed that he’ll feel better again tomorrow.”

The Champions League game at PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday does not seem to be in danger for Malen.

Malen has been in top form recently. This year the winger has already scored four goals and prepared another goal.

Sébastien Haller also suffered a setback recently. As BVB announced, Terzic will have to do without the Africa Cup winner for “several weeks”. Haller had to worry about taking part in the Africa Cup for a long time, but then he went to the tournament and ended up playing from the round of 16 onwards.

“We were hoping that it wasn’t that bad, so we had him in the MRI on Friday morning and diagnosed that the old injury had recurred,” explained Terzic and added: “He won’t be available to us for a few weeks now . We’ll have to wait and see how things develop in the next two to three weeks.”
