Terschelling council holds a minute of silence for relatives and victims of fatal collision

For the victims and relatives of the deadly collision on the Wadden Sea, a minute of silence was held on Wednesday evening during the Terschelling city council.

Mayor Caroline van de Pol made two statements of condolence prior to the budget meeting. First she reflected on the sudden death of former mayor Jurrit Visser on Friday 14 October. “It was good to see such a large delegation from the island at the farewell.”

She then spoke about the “horrific accident that occurred off the coast of Terschelling in which four people were injured and two died.” Van de Pol said there is no news yet about the two people on board who were missing after the collision.

“It’s all very, very sad. We will let you know as soon as we know more.” A minute’s silence was then observed in memory of Visser and “out of compassion” for the relatives and victims of the boat accident.
