Residents of a Spandau high-rise in Haselhorst have not been able to get out for 37 days. The elevator has been idle since early April.
Locked up in your own house! This has been the case for many tenants at Küsterstraße 34 in Haselhorst for 37 days!
The elevator in the eight-story high-rise has been standing still since the beginning of April. Most tenants have lived here since 1974.
In the meantime, many are no longer able to walk well and are dependent on a walker or even a wheelchair. You can no longer leave the apartment.
►Administrative employee Elke Grutze (56) even had to take a vacation. After two knee and hip operations, she can only walk on crutches. “I just can’t manage the 104 steps to my 7th floor anymore,” she says.
► Pensioner Eberhard Thielscher (84) looks after his wife who needs care on the 8th floor. “I can’t carry the groceries upstairs,” he says. And DHL messengers and food suppliers refuse to transport the ordered goods to the upper floors.
► It is particularly bad for a neighbor on the 8th floor who is dependent on an oxygen machine. The supplier of the gas cylinders has announced that he will not carry the heavy cylinders upstairs.
Dhe house belongs to Gewobag, a state-owned housing company. “I called the service line six times and wrote an e-mail,” says Grutze, but the property management has not responded so far.” There was also no notice with information.
Grutze asked the maintenance company on April 28: “The spare part is said to be already available, but the payment modalities have not yet been clarified with the property management, they said.”
Gewobag spokeswoman Monique Leistner, on the other hand, said when asked by BZ: “There were bottlenecks. The missing spare part could now be delivered. It will be installed on Wednesday.”
