The terminal at Eindhoven Airport was closed for more than an hour and a half on Thursday afternoon due to the possible discovery of a firearm. The airport reports at 3.10 pm that the terminal will be reopened as soon as possible.
The terminal and customs department of Eindhoven Airport were closed after an object that looked like a firearm was found. This was announced by a spokesman for the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. The airport itself could not yet say anything about the reason for the closure.
The customs department has now reopened, Eindhoven Airport reports on Twitter. The terminal will also be reopened shortly.
Travelers were unable to enter due to the closure to prevent it from becoming too crowded at the terminal. People who were already inside were allowed to stay there.
It is not yet clear whether it is actually a firearm. The object would have appeared on a scan during a check.
