Javelin thrower Teo Takala has thrown more than 80 meters for the first time in his career.

The 28-year-old Takala’s new record of 80.55 was created in the national competition in Tureng, located in Janakkala municipality, with the last throw.

Takala’s previous record was 78.73 from last summer. He has won the SC bronze at the Kaleva Games in 2018 with a score of 76.94.

Takala’s new record would have been enough for Eugene to qualify for the World Cup final, which he reached with a result of 80.03.

Takala, who represents IF Raseborg, had the previous season’s best result of 75.17. In recent years, he has averaged just under 75 meters.

Takalaa is coaching Leo Pusa.
