The important Chinese fashion fair Chic Spring had already been postponed several times due to the increasing number of Covid 19 cases, and even a move from Shanghai to Nanjing seemed a done deal. On Thursday, however, the end for the current season followed. “Due to the pandemic development of Covid-19 in China”, the fair could not take place from May 20th to 22nd as originally planned, the organizers announced on Thursday. They would now already be concentrating on the autumn edition, which is scheduled to be held on August 29-31 at Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC).
Chen Dapeng, Managing Director of Chic and President of the China National Garment Association (CNGA), explained the background to the decision: “Our main concern is to guarantee the safety of all exhibitors and visitors,” he said in a statement. “We react to current developments with maximum flexibility and take into account the wishes of all participants in order to guarantee a successful participation in the trade fair.”
This should be possible again at the end of August. Then the organizers are expecting around 900 exhibitors in Shanghai: “Planning for Chic Autumn is in full swing. We look forward to innovative concepts that will celebrate their premiere in Shanghai,” explained Chen Dapeng.
