60,000 euros from the province of Drenthe must ensure that Drenthe becomes the horse province of the Netherlands. That money is used, among other things, to map out horse routes.
The Drenthe Horse Routes Foundation has drawn up a plan for this and will further shape the plans together with entrepreneurs, riders, the Drenthe Recreation Board, Marketing Drenthe, municipalities and site management organizations. They have given themselves until January 2026 to do so.
The province wants to profile itself as the horse province of the Netherlands. Partly due to the fact that about 12 percent of Dutch horse ownership is in Drenthe hands. With the aim of becoming the horse province of the country, there is more room for recreational equestrian sports in Drenthe.
