Local hero Sabine Lisicki has reached the semi-finals in the doubles competition at the lawn tennis tournament in Berlin.
With her Canadian partner Bianca Andreescu, the 32-year-old from Berlin surprised the American-Japanese duo Asia Muhammad and Ena Shibahara, who were number three, with 7: 6 (7: 4), 1: 6, 10: 7.
In the semi-finals, Lisicki/Andreescu will meet the top seeded teams at the event, which is endowed with 790,000 euros Storm Sanders/Katerina Siniakova. The Australian-Czech duo had previously beaten each other 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 12-10 Nicole Melchiar Martinez from the USA and the Australian Ellen Perez enforced.
