The Czech, eleventh seed, won 6-1, 7-6(5) in one hour and 36 minutes
It was the only Spanish defeat of the day, where five of our six tennis players passed the round
The Spanish Cristina Bucsa (65) fell this Monday in the first round of the US Open against the Czech Petra Kvitova (eleven). Double Wimbledon champion (2011 and 2014), Kvitova took the match for 6-1 and 7-6(5) in one hour and 36 minutes.
Bucsa’s defeat prevented the full Spanish in this first day of the US Open, which, in any case, closed with a splendid record of five victories in six first round matches.
Especially meritorious were the victories of Roberto Carballés (63), who gave the bell against the Danish Holger Rune (4); and Rebeka Masarova (71), who also signed a surprising and huge victory eliminating the Greek Maria Sakkari (8).
In addition, Alejandro Davidovich (21) beat Marcos Giron (62), Sara Sorribes (55) did the same with the Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina (28) and Bernabé Zapata (76) beat the American Ethan Quinn (475).
