Keys took the quarterfinal match with authority by 6-1 and 6-4 in one hour and 26 minutes against this year’s Wimbledon winner.
The American, a finalist at Flushing Meadows in 2017, will have a very difficult confrontation in the semifinal against Sabalenka, who next week will become number one in the WTA for the first time in her career. The Belarusian defeated the Chinese forcefully on Wednesday qinwenzheng (23) by 6-1 and 6-4.
