The challenge with Alcaraz possible only in the final. Musetti (10), Cobolli (24), Darderi (32) and in the women’s tournament Paolini (8) will also be standard.
After Cincinnati and the final one between Sinner and Alcaraz practically not played for the malaise of Jannik, it is already time to dive into the US Open, the last Slam of the season that starts in New York on Sunday 24 August to end on September 7.
scoreboard
–
Tomorrow there will be the draw of the main scores, at 6 pm (Italian time), with the live streaming on the official Youtube channel of the American tournament. There will be five Italian series heads, four in the male and one in the female. Among the blues Jannik Sinner (number 1), Lorenzo Musetti (10), Flavio Cobolli (24) and Luciano Darderi (32). Among the women, there will be, at number 8, Jasmine Paolini. mechanism
–
How the drawing Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz works, the first two seeded heads, will not be able to meet with each other before the final, because they will be drawn at the opposite ends of the scoreboard, one in the upper part and one in the lower part. The Serie 3 and 4 heads (respectively Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz) are also drawn in the opposite half, cannot be encountered with each other and can clash with Sinner or Alcaraz only in the semifinal or in the final. In the Slam, being 128 players in the scoreboard, distributed on 64 initial games, everyone play immediately, so there are no bye (direct access to the second round). The series heads are 32, with the draw that establishes the quarter of the scoreboard in which the players are inserted from 5 to 8 and then the eighth of the scoreboard in which there are the seeded from 9 to 16, before closing with the 16 players between 17 and 32.
structure
–
At this point, once the structure of the scoreboard has been clear with the distribution of the standard heads, all the others are randomly drawn. Those who can meet Sinner Sinner at the first and second round can meet anyone from the 33rd location on the board of the scoreboard, Wild Card and qualified, including of course. No series heads, as explained. From the third round, on paper, one could have one between Felix Auger-Aliassime, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Denis Shapovalov, Alex Michelsen, Tallon Griekspoor, Brandon Nakashima, Gabriel Diallo and Luciano Darderi (all standard heads from 25 to 32).
eighth
–
In the case of eighth, for Jannik it could be the turn of one between Daniil Medvedev, Tommy Paul, Andrey Rublev and Jakub Messik (standard heads from 13 to 16). In the quarterfinals then watch out for the clashes with standard heads between 5 and 8, such as Jack Draper, Ben Shelton, Novak Djokovic or Alex de Minaur.
