The best tennis stars of the year are currently dueling at the ATP Finals in Turin. Jannik Sinner caused a stir in the group stage with his win against Novak Djokovic. Carlos Alcaraz believes the Italian will soon reach the top of the world rankings.
“He is one of the players who is capable of winning Grand Slam tournaments,” Alcaraz said about Sinner on the sidelines of the ATP Finals.
The Spaniard even went one step further. “I believe that he will reach first place in the world rankings in 2024 or at least give himself a chance to do so,” Alcaraz said: “That is my prediction.”

Sinner won his first two group games at the ATP Finals. After the 6:4, 6:4 against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the South Tyrolean also prevailed against Djokovic 7:5, 6:7, 7:6.
“The fact that I was able to put all the pieces of the puzzle together here in Turin, in front of this backdrop, in this atmosphere against the number 1 in the world, who has won 24 Grand Slams, makes the success very special. It is right at the top,” said Sinner happily his first success ever against Djokovic.
“It is not your privilege to have seen this match. I am privileged to feel this love,” the youngster also sent warm words to the spectators in Turin.

In the semifinals, a direct encounter with admirer Alcaraz is possible. A triumph at the ATP Finals would be the greatest success of Sinner’s career to date.
The 22-year-old is currently in fourth place in the tennis world rankings behind Djokovic, Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.
If Alcaraz has his way, Sinner could be at the top of the rankings in just a few months.
