Tennis star Serena Williams invests in virtual golf team

Tennis icon Serena Williams ventures into virtual sport.

Along with her sister Venus and her husband, entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian, the 23-time Grand Slam winner is the first team owner of the new virtual golf league TGL, founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Los Angeles Golf Club is said to be one of six teams in the new league.

The TGL is a partnership between the PGA Tour and TMRW Sports, a company founded by Woods and McIlroy. The league is scheduled to start next January, and the events in a specially built arena in the US state of Florida will be televised regularly on Monday evenings.

Teams of three golfers compete on a virtual 18-hole course.
