Tennis professional Zverev blasphemes about superstar opponent Alcaraz

Tennis pro Alexander Zverev is in the quarterfinals of the French Open. The new superstar of the industry is waiting for him there: Carlos Alcaraz. But the German complains about his opponent.

“Of course he’s this new superstar and it’s fun to watch him,” said the Olympic champion, who defeated Bernabe Zapata Miralles 7: 6 (13:11), 7: 5, 6: 3 in the round of 16 on Sunday and now meets the 19-year-old Spaniard: “But I have the feeling that the other players are being left out a bit.”

“It is not about me”

Zverev added that the top stars Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal had earned all the privileges in this regard: “It’s not about me, it’s much more about the other players.”

Alcaraz fought for the third time in a night session on the Philippe Chatrier court on Sunday evening to make it into the last eight. Zverev, on the other hand, had never been scheduled for the much-noticed “late shift” including the round of 16 and has played three times on the second largest court, the Suzanne Lenglen court. Djokovic also served there in two of his four previous matches.
