Tennis player Gijs Brouwer can’t make a fist in the first challenger final

Gijs Brouwer was not able to provide a surprise in his first challenger final. The 26-year-old tennis player from Venhuizen was prey for Roberto Carballes Baena. In the Tunisian capital Tunis, the Spaniard was much too strong with 6-1, 6-1.

Brouwer went through the tournament without losing a single set. As a result, he easily qualified for the final on the clay. However, the Dutch champion of 2020 had no answer to the Spaniard.

Carballes Baena played a great match and beat Brouwer within the hour. The number 96 in the world therefore takes off with the tournament victory.

However, Brouwer can look back on a successful tournament in Tunis. Thanks to the final place, he can add fifty points to the world ranking. He thus rises no less than 41 places and is approaching the top 200. In the new ranking, which will be published on Monday, Brouwer is probably in place 232.
