Tennis – Nadal, stress fracture in the ribs: stop for 4-6 weeks

The diagnosis on returning to Spain after Indian Wells. He will have to skip Monte Carlo and Barcelona

Rafael Nadal will have to stop for 4-6 weeks. According to the Spanish press, the pain in his side that forced him to request the intervention of physiotherapists in the semifinal (later won) against Alcaraz in Indian Wells turned out to be a serious injury. After the tests he underwent on his return to Spain, a stress fracture of the left third costal arch emerged. Nadal then played and lost in two sets in the final against Taylor Fritz.

No Montecarlo

It is a hard stop for Nadal who has started an extraordinary 2022 with a series of 20 victories in a row and the successes at the Australian Open, at the ATP in Meblourne and in Acapulco. After forfeiting the Masters 1000 in Miami, Nadal will have to give up the tournament in Monte Carlo (9 to 17 April) and for now also in Barcelona (18-24 April) which had to open his campaign on clay. The Rome Internationals begin on May 2nd.
