Two-time Olympic tennis champion Andy Murray has canceled his participation in the ATP tournament at London’s Queen’s Club due to injury.
The 35-year-old Briton, who plays with an artificial hip, is suffering from a strain in his left abdomen, an examination revealed on Monday. However, Murray remains confident of being able to compete in the grass classic in Wimbledon (from June 27).
“The tournament means a lot to me and it’s disappointing not to compete, especially having played some good matches on grass already,” said Murray, who has won the tournament at Queen’s Club five times.
Most recently, the three-time Grand Slam champion in Stuttgart advanced to the final, where he sustained the injury.
