Lorenzo will take the field no earlier than 12 against Schwartzman, Jannik will challenge Rublev in the afternoon
Italy relies on Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti. The two baby talents reached the round of 16 in Montecarlo after winning respectively against Emil Ruusuvuori (7-5 6-3) and Auger-Aliassime, seeded number 6 (6-2 7-6). We are back on the pitch immediately, with Thursday’s program that sees both players looking for a pass for the quarter-finals: for Sinner there will be the match between seeded players against Andrey Rublev, while Musetti will face Diego Schwartzman, specialist on the clay (three out of four titles arrived on red).
The two Italians
–
The first of the two Italians to take the field will be Musetti: the Tuscan match is the second on the Campo dei Principi, not before 12. The pupil of Simone Tartarini won the only previous match against Schwartzman, last year at Acapuclo. While Sinner will close the program on the main pitch, Ranieri III: Jannik will take the field in the afternoon. The record against Rublev is one victory each, but the Russian’s success came due to the South Tyrolean’s retirement in Vienna in 2020: Sinner won the quarter-finals on the clay in Barcelona last year, 6-2 7 -6.
The program
–
This is the complete program on all fields. Al Ranieri III will be the turn of Dimitrov against Ruud, then Djere-Tsitsipas, Zverev-Carreno and, indeed, Sinner-Rublev. The day on the Campo dei Principi will be inaugurated by the US derby between Fritz and Korda, followed by Musetti before Hurkacz-Ramos. While on field 2, at 12, Davidovich Fokina (who eliminated Novak Djokovic) and Goffin will take the field.
