Tennis Mies wins the first duel after breaking up with Krawietz

Andreas Mies won the eagerly awaited duel with his long-standing doubles partner Kevin Krawietz in Halle/Westphalia.

With the Brazilian Marcelo Demoliner, the 32-year-old from Cologne celebrated a 6:4, 7:5 win in the round of 16 of the grass tournament against Krawietz from Coburg and his partner Tim Pütz.

Krawietz and Mies had won the French Open during their time together in 2019 and 2020 and, as “KraMies”, delighted the German tennis audience. “Of course it’s not a normal game against Andi,” Krawietz, who has been playing with Frankfurt Davis Cup colleague Pütz since the beginning of the year, had previously said: “But we meet again as friends on the pitch. We have each other separated on good.”

Mies was more successful in Paris recently, reaching the semi-finals with Dutchman Matwe Middelkoop. Mies also wants to make it into the last four in Halle against the Americans Nathaniel Lammons/Jackson Withrow.
