The world ranking of Aryna Sabalenka left at the WTA tournament in Cincinnati/Ohio in the quarter-finals. The 27 -year -old Belarusin lost on Friday against Jelena Rybakina from Kazakhstan 1: 6, 4: 6.
Rybakina, Wimbledon winner from 2022 and currently number ten in the world, served a total of eleven aces and reciprocated for the defeat against Sabalenka on lawn in Berlin two months ago.
In the semifinals, the Kazakhin now meets the Wimbledon winner Iga Swiatek from Poland, who previously prevailed 6: 3, 6: 4 against Anna Kalinskaya.
No optimal preparation for US Open
For Sabalenka it was the first tournament participation in the still young North American hard court season. After her semi-finals in Wimbledon, she had dispensed with the American Amanda Anisimova for exhaustion after her semi-final in Wimbledon.
