“I could say: ‘I trained, I went to a psychologist, I had a mental coach,'” explained Boris Becker in the “Eurosport” podcast “The Yellow Ball”, before revealing: “I think I have get that from breast milk.”
“I have certain talents and qualities that I still have today and that made me a tennis player. That’s what I was born with,” explained the German tennis idol.
Of course he “trained a lot in his career, but a lot of people do that,” said Boris Becker. “I was really interested in the sport. The harder the match, the better I found it. It’s best when everyone is against me, because then I play even better,” the 55-year-old looked back.
Boris Becker before comeback in German tennis?
He still has this attitude “today,” said Boris Becker. According to the tennis legend, being brought up by his parents and growing up with an older sister played a role in “getting thicker skin and dealing with problems more positively”.
With six Grand Slam titles, Boris Becker is the most successful German men’s player of all time. After his active career, he trained the Serbian top player Novak Djokovic, among others. Today Boris Becker is active as a TV expert. It is unclear whether he will return to the German Tennis Association after his release from prison in December 2022.
“You can always use Boris’ help in tennis, whether as a player, coach, DTB or whatever. He knows how it’s done,” Alexander Zverev said in an interview with “Bild” for Boris Becker.
