Tennis star Novak Djokovic (35) is through to the quarterfinals of the Dubai Championships after an effortless 6-2, 6-3 win over Tallon Griekspoor. The world number one from Serbia extended his winning streak to 19 matches.
Djokovic has already won the tournament in the United Arab Emirates five times, and in the round of eight he now meets Hubert Hurkacz from Poland. “The new generations are coming, but I’m not afraid,” said a smiling Djokovic in his on-pitch interview about 26-year-old Dutchman Griekspoor.
Defending champion Andrei Rublev from Russia had to fight harder to reach the quarterfinals. In the end he won against the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 1: 6, 7: 6, 7: 6.
