Andrey Rublev also had a great year in 2023. The 26-year-old won his first 1000 title in Monte Carlo and also won the ATP tournament in Bastad. Rublev has long since established himself in the top ten of the world rankings and goes into this ATP World Championship as number five. The Russian also competed here last year and made it to the semi-finals after defeating, among others, his current opponent and compatriot Medvedev in the group.

Daniil Medvedev has had another impressive season in 2023. The world number three has already won 64 matches this year, more than ever before. The Russian has collected a whopping five titles, including the Masters events in Rome and Miami. And the ATP Finals traditionally suit Medvedev too.
