Alcaraz 2023
The Spaniard, who is used to success, has recently lost some of his form. This should not detract from the outstanding year of 2023. Alcaraz appeared in eight finals and won six of them – including his second Grand Slam title after the US Open 2022 at Wimbledon. At Masters level, the 20-year-old now has four trophies with Indian Wells and Madrid. In Cincinnati the Iberian lost a 1,000 final for the first time. This was followed by the semi-final rounds at the US Open and in Beijing before the form curve completely tipped downwards.

Losers duel
Two losers from the first day of the game face each other here and are therefore under pressure. Another defeat could almost mean the end. Alcaraz was still left behind on Monday after winning the first set against Alexander Zverev. And Rublev lost to his Russian compatriot Daniil Medvedev 4:6 and 2:6.
