FC St. Pauli extends contract with Ritzka: “Wasn’t in the public eye for a long time”

Market value winner

FC St. Pauli has extended the contract with left-back Lars Ritzka. As usual, it was not announced how long the 25-year-old will be tied to the second division leaders. Ritzka moved from SC Verl to the “Kiezkickern” in 2021 and has since played 35 games (one goal/one assist). This season he only missed one league game and was in the starting line-up in eleven of 13 games.

“Lars has developed excellently in his almost two and a half years with us. He wasn’t in the public eye for a long time, but we always knew about his qualities and his value to our team. The fact that he now comes to work regularly is the result of his persistent work. That’s why we’re happy to have him with us beyond the current season,” explained sports director Andreas Bornemann.

Ritzka, who jumped from 300,000 to 700,000 euros in the latest market value update for the 2nd Bundesliga, added: “I don’t see the end of my path at FC St. Pauli yet and I’m pleased with the trust the club has placed in me . I feel very comfortable in the city and at the club and have the ideal conditions here to be able to continue my personal development over the past few years.”
