“Black Monday” may be over, but the Tuesday after the end of the regular season can also be dangerous for head coaches in the NFL. The Tennessee Titans have parted ways with coach Mike Vrabel.
Head coach Mike Vrabel has become a victim of his own lack of success. After a weak regular season with a record of 6-11, the Tennessee Titans sent him out the door. The team officially announced this on Tuesday.
Titans owner Adams Strunk said in a statement: “This morning I spoke with Mike Vrabel and informed him of my decision to change head coaches. As I told Coach Vrabel, this decision was as difficult as any I have made as a controlling owner met.”

“Our goal is not only to achieve more wins than losses, but to regularly fight for championships. This season was disappointing, but I see the first signs of progress,” said Strunk. “Last year we added a promising young quarterback and several other talented players to our roster. With the search for a new coach, enviable cap space and a top-10 draft position, this offseason is as important as any in ours History. I’m looking forward to the coming weeks and months. We’ll seize the moment,” Strunk is quoted as saying.
Running back is shocked
Vrabel is the third coach after Ron Rivera (Washington Commanders) and Arthur Smith (Atlanta Falcons) to be fired after the end of the regular season. Vrabel had coached the Titans since 2018 and led them to the playoffs three times. In the last two seasons, however, the team ended the season with a negative balance.
“Wow. I’m shocked. Coach Vrabel is a leader. He’s a great coach and teacher,” star running back Derrick Henry told The Athletic: “I know he’ll get another chance right away. I look forward.”
