Ten things fans look forward to

Anticipation is the greatest joy, not just at Christmas. The German GT Championship starts in four months in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (April 22-24, 2022) in the 2022 season. It is already worth taking a look at a strong new season. Ten reasons to look forward to the ADAC GT Masters 2022:

1. Strong starting field

The German GT Championship will start again with a high-class field in 2022. By mid-December, 18 teams with 30 GT3 sports cars had registered. There is plenty of variety: The vehicles come from six manufacturers: Audi, BMW, Corvette, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.

2. New supercars

The BMW M4 GT3 and the Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II will debut in the German GT Championship in the coming season. While the M4 GT3, the new flagship of BMW Motorsport customer sport models, was completely redeveloped, its Bavarian rival is the further development of the 2016, 2019 and 2021 championship car.

3. New teams

Several new teams will join the team in the 2022 season. The Allied-Racing team, one of the most successful ADAC GT4 Germany racing teams, is promoted to the ADAC GT Masters and races a Porsche 911 GT3 R. Two well-known names are behind ZVO Racing. The team of Philipp Zakowski and the former DTM star Jörg van Ommen is competing with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for the first time. But that’s not all: more racing teams will confirm their entry into the racing series in the next few weeks.

4. Even more family-friendly

The ADAC GT Masters race weekends will be even more attractive for families in 2022: children and young people under 16 years of age will have free entry next year when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are already available online at adac.de/motorsport. Those who decide quickly benefit from attractive discounts when purchasing tickets by December 31, ADAC members save another 10% on the ticket price.

5. Fixed start times

The fans can look forward to a fixed start time in the German GT Championship in 2022. All 14 races of the coming season will start at 1 p.m., NITRO will broadcast all races live and in full from 12:30 p.m.

6. Sustainability

The German GT Championship takes on a pioneering role when it comes to sustainability. In the coming season, environmentally friendly fuels will be used on the platform for the first time in the ADAC GT Masters and the other ADAC series. In addition, the “Bottle Free Zone”, which was successfully launched this year, will be expanded in 2022 in order to avoid even more plastic waste. Around 100,000 non-returnable bottles were saved in the past season.

7th Family & Friends Festival

A special event will celebrate its premiere in 2022 at the DEKRA Lausitzring: On August 19-21, at the new Family & Friends Festival by DEKRA and ADAC, spectators can expect not only racing action with the fifth race weekend of the ADAC GT Masters, but also exciting themed worlds such as outdoor, technology or children, a varied entertainment program and interesting insights behind the scenes of the DEKRA Technology Center. Tickets for the Family & Friends Festival are available from 5 euros.

8. Exciting supporting program

The fans at the racetracks can expect a packed motorsport program again in 2022. The ADAC GT4 Germany, ADAC TCR Germany and Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will compete as partner series six times. The ADAC Formula 4 youngsters will be guests at the ADAC GT Masters three times. Other exciting racing series such as the touring car legends or the GT2 European Series will be added at selected weekends.

9. Fanfest in the paddock

If the pandemic permits, fans are warmly welcome in the paddock of the German GT Championship in the coming season. They are offered a lot – and being close to the fans is a top priority. The new viewing platform enables unusual perspectives on the racing action, autograph sessions make fans’ hearts beat faster and on the pit walks the spectators take a look behind the scenes of the teams.

10. Final tradition in Hockenheim

There is a small anniversary in Hockenheim in the coming season: For the tenth time, the ADAC GT Masters is holding its big season finale on the circuit in Baden-Württemberg, where the next German GT champions are chosen.
