Ten injured in fire in Rotterdam

Ten people were injured in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday due to a fire in an apartment complex on Mariniersweg in Rotterdam. They inhaled smoke and were taken to hospital, according to the safety region. Eight homes have been evacuated.

The fire broke out around 1.30 am in an apartment on the first floor, above a restaurant. The fire brigade used a ladder truck to get the residents out of the house. The fire was under control around 02.50 am, a spokesman said. He said it is unclear if and when the evacuated people will be able to return to their homes. “If that is not possible, accommodation will be arranged elsewhere.”
