The Court of Appeal of Eastern Finland has given its decision regarding Temptation Island Finland – the sexual crime conviction of Marlon Secomand, known from the program.

In July of last year, the District Court of South Karelia sentenced Secomand to 2 years and 9 months in prison for aggravated rape and aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

Both crimes took place in 2018.

The Court of Appeal considered that it was not an aggravated rape, but a basic form of rape. In the opinion of the court of appeals, the violence used did not fulfill the characteristics of the crime, so that the act could have been classified as gross.

It appears from the public statement that Secomandi was a little over 18 years old at the time of the crime. The victim, on the other hand, was under 16 years old. The sexual intercourse had initially taken place consensually, after which Secomandi had forced the victim against her will to have anal intercourse.

In the case of gross sexual abuse of a child, the Court of Appeal did not change the verdict.

In the end, Secomand’s sentence was reduced by one year at the Court of Appeal, as he was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of one year and 9 months. He was ordered to perform 90 hours of community service.

The verdict is not yet final and can be appealed to the Supreme Court.
