Festivals will return to our lives in 2022 – we think that needs to be celebrated with a big stage show, too Tempelhof Sounds, which will take place from June 10th to 12th, 2022 in Berlin. That’s why the organizers have Muse as the headliner on Saturday, because the British band not only delivers in terms of music, but also with a visual show.
The band, which was founded in 1994 in Teignmouth, England, orientated themselves towards their grunge colleagues from the USA from an early stage. Wherever they come from, Britpop was on every street corner after all. How could you stand out from the crowd? From this thinking, their sound quickly evolved into synthesizer, progressive rock with classical elements and lyrics that became more demanding and urgent. Socially critical and political lyrics are now part of their unique identity. However, muse rarely raise the index finger, instead their songs, performances and live visuals work out the absurdities that we encounter every day through information overload, corruption, greed for money and power.
Visually stunning stage spectacle
The fact that we have all experienced incredible things in recent years and still have to watch how political decisions affect the entire world has not gone unnoticed by Muse either. On August 26th, 2022 the band will release their new album WILL OF THE PEOPLE. Her set at Tempelhof Sounds also promises to be a visually stunning spectacle that picks up on the troubled times we live in.
The new single “Compliance” already gave a first taste of the feelings that Mett Bellamy and his colleagues had to deal with with the new tracks: “WILL OF THE PEOPLE was created in Los Angeles and London and is driven by the increasing uncertainties and insecurities in the world affected. A pandemic, new wars in Europe, massive protests and riots, attempted uprisings, the tumbling of Western democracy, rising authoritarianism, wildfires and natural disasters, the general destabilization of the global order – all of these have influenced Will Of The People. Western empire and nature have long provided our protection and livelihood, now both are seriously threatened. These are unsettling and scary times for all of us. This album is a personal guide through those fears and a preparation for what is to come.”
Tempelhof Sounds: The line-up at a glance
In addition to Muse, Tempelhof Sounds will also bring The Strokes, Florence + The Machine, Alt-J, Maximo Park, Interpol, Johnossi and many more to the stage. From June 10th to 12th, 2022, the former airport site at Tempelhofer Feld will be the place to be for all rock and alternative fans.

“Live music brings people together. She creates places with an incomparably carefree atmosphere – open, tolerant and respectful. Tempelhof Sounds is one of those places – a festival in Berlin where the world meets,” the organizers said in their mission statement. “In all the hustle and bustle of the time, the city of Berlin and all its people deserve a music festival that is aware of its social, economic and environmentally friendly responsibility. In the spirit of the diversity of our society, we create a cultural meeting place where it makes no difference where you come from, what you look like, which language you speak, which ethnic group you follow or who you love. We all love music.”
