Telstar test players show themselves despite defeat against ten of Willem II

The first defeat in the preparation for Telstar is a fact. Mike Snoei’s team lost 2-0 to Willem II. That score in Loon op Zand had already been achieved before half-time. At Telstar there were again many test players on the field who were given the chance to prove themselves.

The team from Brabant started the practice pot stronger and got a chance after five minutes. Lucas Woudenberg steamed up and gave a cross to Jeremy Bokila, who just couldn’t reach the ball. Max Svensson gave Willem II the lead via a rebound in the penalty area: 1-0. Goalkeeper Joey Houweling had no chance. Less than a minute later, Telstar became life-threatening. After a long through pass from Marko Kerkez, Glynor Plet had a free passage. It was hindered by Amine Lachkar, who knocked down Plet from behind and received red.

Telstar cannot take advantage

Despite the low number, the Tilburg team remained dangerous, Nick Doodeman (former FC Volendam) grazed a pass from Woudenberg. The local from Venhuizen was able to cheer afterwards, after he shot a volley into the goal. Plet had another chance before half-time, but that didn’t change the score. In the second half there were a lot of changes, so there were a lot fewer chances to score. Telstar cannot take advantage of the preponderance in players after the break, so the score ended in 2-0 for Willem II.

At Telstar, just like in the 2-0 victory over Lisse, the necessary test players were given the opportunity to prove themselves. Trainer Mike Snoei was very happy with the performances of several players. “I see a number of test players getting up in between. I am particularly charmed by Jonathan Mulder and we are also very satisfied with Mikhel Ainsalu from Estonia. I would like to bring him in for Telstar.”

Out of sight

After the game, Snoei also discussed the status of test players who were on trial last week. “Rohat Agca has unfortunately been found to be too light. Van Goalkeeper Baboucarr Gaye we know what he can do. We’re still keeping those on hand. But today we wanted to see Vladislavs Lazarevs at work.”
