Telstar records first win of the season against Helmond Sport

The first win for Telstar is in. The team of trainer Mike Snoei turned a 0-1 deficit against Helmond Sport into a 2-1 win tonight. Glynor Plet scored the winning goal from the penalty spot.

At Telstar, the again fit Özgür Aktas was in the starting line-up for the first time this season. As a result, Mihkel Ainsalu started on the bench where David Min was also recruited last week. The Greek acquisition Christos Giousis was not yet eligible to play.

After 24 seconds Telstar could have taken the lead. Glynor Plet pointed the ball straight at keeper Mike Havekotte in a promising position. Moments later, Martijn Kaars became dangerous on the other side, but his effort was turned by keeper Ronald Koeman jr. In the 14th minute, left back Bryan van Hove shot the ball past Ronald Koeman jr: 0-1.

Weather Blommestijn

Telstar often had the ball, but hardly managed to become dangerous. On the stroke of half-time, Yaël Liesdek had to leave injured and was replaced by attacker David Min, who had been hired from RKC. Even before both teams were allowed to go to the changing rooms, Koen Blommestijn scored the 1-1 with his second goal of the season. On the first day of match, the FC Volendam mercenary had already scored against Jong Ajax.

After the break, Telstar started energetically and the Brabant players were lucky that a cross from Telstar’s Anwar Bensabouh ended up on the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Glynor Plet put the home side ahead. After Van Hove’s foul on Mitch Apau, referee Eijgelsheim pointed to the spot. The Telstar captain did not fail: 2-1. The Velsenaren successfully crossed the line in the last quarter of the game. With this victory, Telstar climbs to fourteenth place in the ranking with four points from four games.

On Thursday, Telstar will play at home again. Then De Graafschap comes to Velsen-Zuid. You can of course follow that match live on the radio in an extra broadcast of NH Sport.
