Telstar holds up well in a winter duel with Roda JC

After three games without a win, Telstar has once again taken full advantage. Visiting Roda JC, the White Lions won 2-1 through goals from David Min and Christos Giousis. Dylan Vente scored for the Limburgers.

Remarkably enough, Ronald Koeman Jr. was missing. at Telstar. He was still on the field during the final training yesterday, but was suffering from illness today. Jeroen Houweling was under the crossbar as his replacement. Glynor Plet sat on the bench in Kerkrade, he was replaced by Cain Seedorf.

David Min was his offensive partner and he created the most danger. Min shot just wide from a corner. He took the lead after twenty minutes. After a dry bang, goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas was powerless: 0-1. Moments later, Min caused danger with a great rush, without success.

The Limburgers got the first chance after the break. Thomas Oude Kotte was alert and took the ball off the line – despite the winter conditions. In the counter-punch it was Min, who created danger again. Nicolas could just tap the ball out of the corner.

Due to a foul by Nils Röseler on David Min, Telstar was awarded a penalty in the final phase. Christos Giousis then used the penalty kick and seemed to bring the White Lions to a safe haven: 0-2. Nothing could be further from the truth after Dylan Vente outwitted Joey Houweling.

Despite an exciting final phase, Telstar held on and took the full win against Roda JC. They have risen to a joint tenth place with De Graafschap. Helmond Sport is the opponent next week.
