Telstar has booked its second win in a row in the first division. Andries Jonker’s team won 1-0 and so the unbeaten run of Jong Ajax came to an end. John Heitinga’s men had not lost thirteen games in a row.
Young Ajax starts strong
Young Ajax was lord and master in the initial phase. Striker Christian Rasmussen had a great chance, but his shot went wide. Telstar couldn’t get out with an overcrowded infirmary. Andries Jonker’s men needed a lot of offenses to keep the Ajax talents in check.
Telstar held their ground and even took the lead. After a shot by Cas Dijkstra, Rein Smit was able to easily tap in. Moments later, Smit got another chance, but his effort was turned by Ajax keeper Calvin Raatsie.
Second half
Smit had a good chance at the start of the second half, but after that little happened. Young Ajax coach John Heitinga sent three fresh players into the field in the sixtieth minute. Telstar trainer Andries Jonker also did the same two minutes later. That did not immediately lead to many opportunities.
Telstar substitute Van Velzen still had a chance, but Raatsie saved on behalf of Young Ajax. In the 80th minute it was Kristian Hlynsson who shot the bar for the team from Amsterdam from one of the few chances. Telstar was able to decide the game through good chances from Stanley Akoy and Glynor Plet, but that didn’t happen and it remained exciting until the end.
