Even after six games, Telstar is still winless and therefore logically bottom in the first division. They lost 3-0 to leader Roda JC. “We created far too few opportunities again.”
The turning point in the game was Roda JC’s 2-0, where Telstar captain Mitch Apau was knocked down. “It doesn’t look nice. Mitch is our figurehead and will break through a wall for us,” Telstar coach Mike Snoei says about the moment. “It is absolutely a breaking point in the match. The referee can blow the whistle, even if it is a minor violation. At that moment we were just looking for the 1-1.”
“I’m now mainly concerned about the thrust at the front”
“It is important that we get points now,” Snoei continues about the disastrous start to the season. “I have never experienced this before. I saw the program in advance and now you hope to have around five or six points. But I am now mainly concerned about the momentum at the front. With Christos Giousis, Danzell Gravenberch and Youssef El Kachati three good attackers are injured.”

Quinten van den Heerik was allowed to start in the starting line-up for the first time at Telstar. The attacker had been in good form since the summer and was therefore allowed to start from the first whistle in Limburg. Van den Heerik: “I scored a lot in the preparation and left a good impression. But we lost here 3-0, so it is a day to quickly forget.”
Telstar will play again on Friday September 22. Then the White Lions visiting ADO Den Haag in match round 7.
