Television producer Han Peekel has passed away. His daughter has confirmed the news of his death. Peekel has turned 75 years old.
He died in Bali, unexpectedly, according to his daughter, of a heart attack around 6:20 p.m. Dutch time.
The Rotterdammer, who was the last to interview Peter R. de Vries, became known in the 1980s and 1990s as a presenter of the AVRO program Krijg Vervolgd, in which children imitated Donald Duck, Woody Woodpecker and Roadrunner. He was the face of the program for no less than seventeen years and stood out because of his brightly colored jackets and his cheerful bow.
But Peekel also made various records with Dutch-language chansons and worked as a DJ and documentary maker. In the late 1970s he received an Edison for his meaningful programs. He also wrote books about cabaret, Theater Carré and Louis Davids.
