Tefaf robbers fled on two electric scooters | Inland

The Limburg police announced this on Monday evening. The detectives are also looking for a fifth man, who bought tickets for the robbers last Monday, a day before the jewelry robbery. Police have released images of the five men in the hope that someone will recognize them.

On the day of the robbery, Tuesday last week, four men dressed in jackets and flat caps entered Mecc Maastricht separately from each other between 11.22 am and 11.35 am. While visitors to the fair are kept at a distance with firearms, two robbers smash into the display case with a sledgehammer. There were no visible signs in the CCTV footage that the men had the items with them when they arrived.

A heroic visitor kicks another of the criminals and tries to throw a vase at them, but recoils when the men point a gun at him.

After they allegedly stole expensive diamond jewelry from the prestigious London jeweler Symbolic & Chase, they fled through the stairs of the self-service restaurant. There were probably two electric scooters ready with which the foursome drove to the Sorbonnelaan in duos. Detectives suspect they may have headed towards Salernolaan from here, where another vehicle may have been waiting for them. After that, there is no trace of the men. It concerns five men with a light skin color.

‘Remarkable’

According to two employees who were present during the robbery, the men fled via a route unknown to the general public. “They ran through a staff walking route. That was behind the scenes. It is remarkable, because apparently they knew the way well. It was also the quickest way out,” says another employee. They said the robbery was over in less than two minutes.

The investigation into the robbery is still ongoing. The police only want to say that jewelry was stolen, but would not say which ones. According to experts, in addition to possibly precious diamond Cartier earrings worth 4.5 million dollars, the robbers also made off with a very expensive necklace, possibly one of 27 million euros.
