The police have arrested a ninth suspect in the investigation into the series of robberies, in which Sjaak Groot from Berkhout was also shot dead. It concerns a young man who was a minor during all the violence. This would make him the youngest of the alleged gang that made many North Holland victims.
The Public Prosecution Service informs NH that the suspect, who is now 19 years old, was arrested in the Netherlands last month. The teenager has no fixed place of residence or residence. Sources surrounding the investigation state that it concerns someone with ties in Belgium, who would also have lived there, but the OM spokesperson could not confirm this.
Briefly, the robberies in question here: between August 8, 2020 and July 22, 2021, several innocent victims were killed in robberies in North Holland and one in Dreumel, Gelderland. The 72-year-old Sjaak even dies after being shot.
Seven men and one woman have been arrested in the past two years. Another suspect turns out to be alive a few weeks after Sjaak’s death to have robbed. Justice believes that this group committed the robberies in varying combinations.

Now it appears that another young man may have been involved. “He is suspected of involvement in the robbery of a gas station on August 9, 2020 in Nieuwe Niedorp,” said a spokesman for the OM. It is not yet clear whether more facts will be added.
“The suspect is in pre-trial detention for this. His case will be handled separately and behind closed doors, because he was a minor at the time of the fact.”
Another session next week
On April 21, about two and a half years after the first robbery, there will be another hearing about the series of robberies.
