Teemu Selänne said in connection with the traditional Bermuda tournament that he is strongly involved in Joker’s return project to the SM league.
– Looking good. We will have information coming from us in the next few weeks, it’s five in a package, Selänne told Iltalehte.
However, the disc legend was silent about more detailed information.
– Maybe it’s better, though, that everything comes at once. There is a lot of positive stuff, and everyone is excited. A new beginning, Selänne rejoiced.
Selänne also shed light on his role in the operations of the club returning from the KHL.
– I will join as an owner, but also for active activities. I’ve been excited about Jokers for a long time.
The Jokerit left the SM League for the Russian-led KHL in 2014. During the entire KHL period, Selänte was hardly seen in the Jokers’ uniforms.
Selänne commented briefly on the club’s trip to Russia.
– It was a special case. It had its pros and cons, it was nice to see a good guy.
– As an arrangement, it was special, but now I’m really excited that Jokerit is returning to the SM league, Selänne smiled.
The Jokerit can return to the SM league for the 2023–2024 season at the earliest.
