The Dortmund retailer Tedi GmbH & Co. KG was able to pass a symbolic milestone in the 2024/25 financial year. “For the first time in its 20-year history, Europe’s leading non-food discounter achieved gross turnover of over three billion euros,” said the company on Thursday. Tedi did not publish comparative figures from the previous year.

However, the retailer emphasized that the expansion pace in the past financial year “also reached a high with over 400 new openings”. According to its own statements, the discounter now has 3,500 branches in 15 European countries.

According to a message, the reasons for the “very positive development” were “in addition to the strong organic growth, but also the successful acquisitions and quick integrations of Pfennigpfeiffer and Bristol branches in Germany and Belgium”.

CEO Petar Burazin drew a correspondingly positive conclusion. “We are very satisfied with the development that Tedi made in the anniversary year,” he said in a statement. “Despite tightening Geopolitscher challenges and an economically very difficult environment, we were able to exceed our goal of three billion euros in gross turnover and further drive our branch network compression on the German and European market with a record expansion.”

The retailer wants to continue his growth course in the coming months. Burazin explained the current plans: “Even in the current financial year, we are planning more than a new branch in Europe every day,” emphasized the CEO. “We do not plan an expansion to other countries in 2025/2026, but generally do not rule out anything. While it is partially challenging for competitors or even have to close, we are able to implement takeovers on our own, provided the locations correspond to our requirement criteria.”

Another project is the ongoing “rebranding”, which includes a new filmal look. The aim is to “offer an even more modern, more attractive Tedi with more trendy ranges in order to create the best possible, positive shopping experience,” said the company.
