The president of LaLiga denounces the insulting comments and slander made against him

“It is my obligation, as a citizen, to identify this type of action and bring it to the attention of the competent authorities,” he says.

Javier Thebespresident of LaLiga, will sue against Javier Gomez Matallanas and Miguel Garcia Cabaspokesman and deputy secretary of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, respectively, for “pointing out” Tebas himself as being responsible for a plot against Luis Rubiales, the RFEF’s chief executive.

This was announced through an official statement. “I will file a lawsuit for insults and slander against Javier Gómez Matallanas, official spokesperson for the RFEF, for the insulting comments and slander made against me during his speech on the television programs Everything is a Lie on Television Channel Four – on the day June 6, 2022-; the Ana Rosa Program of the Telecinco television network on June 7, 2022, and the official statement of June 6 issued and broadcast through the EFE news agency,” says the release.

In addition, he affirmed that the lawsuit against García Caba, also for libel and slander, will be filed by the “insulting” comments and “slander” in the interview published by Okdiario on June 7, 2022.

“Although I have serious doubts that Miguel García Caba’s statements were made freely and not under pressure from third parties,” he added.

Tebas also made it clear that it is “absolutely false” that he is behind any plot against the president of the RFEF or the recordings published by El Confidencial.

“That the interventions of both representatives of the RFEF accusing me of being behind these actions only respond to the interest of hiding the seriousness of the events that have been revealed in recent weeks,” Tebas added.

“That, in the event that, as Miguel García Caba reveals in the interview, he has in his possession the complete recording of the conversation on May 28, he delivers a copy to the courts as I have already requested via burofax,” he added.

He also indicated that it is “unusual and shameful” that the deputy secretary of the Royal Spanish Football Federation secretly recorded a private meeting with the aim of using its content in a “biased and malicious way in a means of communication”.

“That all the interactions that I have had, both with Miguel García Caba and with other senior executives of the RFEF, have always been in response to a request from the interested parties who wanted to report irregularities and humiliating situations that occurred in the RFEF,” he pointed out.

“That I have attended to these requests always with the understanding that it is my obligation, as a citizen and as the highest leader of LaLiga, to identify this type of irregular action and bring it to the attention of the competent authorities,” the aforementioned statement concluded.
