For the second time in the RLCS Winter Split, the winner of a European regional tournament is Team Queso.
After the first, the Spanish Rocket League team also managed to win the third event. The first in the EU rankings thus buys the ticket for the major in Los Angeles.
“We were in really good mental shape today. We had a lot of fun and when we have fun we play better and better,” said Queso’s Joe “Joyo” Young after the final. “I’m looking forward to the Major now. I’m sure we’ll play very well there too. I don’t know what could stop us.”
Things didn’t go well for the Spaniards in the group stage. As third in the group, Team Queso narrowly escaped being eliminated and was thus in the lower bracket from the start of the knockout round.
However, in the playoffs, Team Queso made a run-through to the finals, knocking out teams like Evil Geniuses and Dignitas in the process.
In the final, the Spaniards then defeated the English team Endpoint twice, 4:3 and 4:2.
