Team Heretics has secured a place for the group stage of the summer season in the League of Legends league LEC. Team Vitality is about to end the season after another defeat.
“I’m happier than last season,” said Heretics’ Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski in the post-game interview. “First of all, we’re playing better and we’re winning more games. Being more competitive and being able to keep up with other teams is a lot of fun.”
After Heretics has fallen short of expectations so far this year and even missed the group stage in spring, the team around LoL veteran Jankos is playing strong this season. The Spanish team also showed this performance against the defending champions Mad Lions and bought their ticket for the next round early on.
Meanwhile, G2 Esports and Fnatic continue to march ahead and now share the top of the table. Vitality continues to bring up the rear after a tough defeat against Koi. After the team around the German duo of Elias “Upset” Lipp and Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser only had one win this season, hopes of a place in the next round are fading.
