The 44-year-old teacher from Heusden, who is suspected of fornication, regrets what he has done. He said this in tears in the court in Den Bosch. A pro forma session was held there on Wednesday morning. The man is suspected of taking nude photos of children and masturbating in the presence of a minor, among other things. Because the scope of the case is not yet entirely clear, it will probably not be possible to deal with the substance of the case until after the summer. “I’m completely through it. I’m sorry and want to move on as soon as possible,” said the suspicious teacher.
The man was arrested at the end of August last year after a report that he would secretly take nude photos of children. He is also suspected of possessing child pornography, masturbating in the presence of a minor and of having sex with a minor girl. The Public Prosecution Service also suspects him of having had sexually tinted conversations through chats with minors for years. He pretended to be a peer and asked for nude photos.
The suspect taught at a primary school in Vlijmen. The children involved are not students of this school. They come from different counties all over the country. Some of the children have now been identified. But according to the judge, the full scope of the case is not yet completely clear. The police will approach at least eight children for further investigation in the coming weeks.
The case can therefore probably only be dealt with substantively well after the summer.
Suspect in tears
The suspect was present in court via video link on Wednesday. He was audibly crying. “I just want to start the treatment process as soon as possible, so that I can start again,” he said in tears when the judge asked how he was doing. “I regret the things I’ve done and I just really want to move on.”
After a short break, the judge decided to have a psychiatric examination carried out on the suspect, so that the substantive treatment would not have to be unnecessarily delayed.
The public prosecutor hopes to have the final file complete within a few weeks. Only then can the handling of the case and the personality test begin.
